Mental Health Awareness

Mental Health Awareness is an accelerated mental health training program, customised to teaching employees within workplaces how to manage mental health problems within the workplace and how to promote a mentally healthy workplace.  

Designed for delivery across a wide range of workplace types, this course is dynamic and diverse, suitable for each and every employee, arming them with the knowledge and skills to better assist themselves and their colleagues to work and live a mentally robust life.

The most recent Australian survey of National Health and Mental Wellbeing found that one in five (20%) people in the Australian population had experienced a common mental illness (depression, anxiety or substance abuse disorder) during the previous 12 months – that’s 3.2 million people.  

 

The National Survey uncovered that only 35% of people experiencing a mental illness in a particular year will seek professional help.

The one day training course provides members of the corporate community with:

  • Skills in how to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems

  • Knowledge of the possible causes or risk factors for these mental health problems

  • Awareness of the evidenced based medical, psychological and alternative treatments available

  • Skills in how to give appropriate initial help and support someone experiencing a mental health problem

  • Skills in how to take appropriate action if a crisis situation arises involving suicidal behaviour, panic attack, stress reaction to trauma, overdose or threatening psychotic behaviour.
